Why I haven't Blogged

I know a lot of my blogfriends have been asking questions and are anxious to hear how the twins are progressing. Just to warn you – this will be a long blog!!

There are answers to your questions at the end!!

Why?
To be honest I do have a reason for not posting. I wasn’t sick or anything. Just extremely tired. I have never felt that kind of tiredness in my life.

I didn’t just quit blogging, I quit everything!

Also, I can’t blog during work hours and I don’t have the internet at home anymore…
and considering how tired I’ve been I just haven’t had the energy to come in to work early or stay late!

Here is a snap shot of my life in the past month:
Wake-up, Throw-up, Shower, Get Dressed, Breakfast, Throw-up, Work, Throw-up, Lunch, Nap, Throw-up, Work, Drive Home (absolutely starving), Open Fridge, Throw-Up, Make Supper, Throw Up, Eat Supper, Nap, Watch TV, Throw-up, Go to Bed at 9pm, Wake up three times to go potty, Wake-up and start all over again.

Exciting isn’t it!! For those of you who haven’t had the chance – you will get to know your toilet in an intimate way if you are as fortunate as most of us! It’s kind of odd when throwing up becomes ‘normal’. It’s like – “just hold on a second honey – I need to throw up first and then we can cuddle…”

Anyway

I am now 17 weeks pregnant and am starting to not throw up! I still feel extremely tired. Who knew making two babies would be this hard? My energy comes back once in a while though, and I am feeling much better than I was.

REALLY RECENT NEWS!
This past weekend was EASTER and Jon & I went to Saskatoon to visit our families.

It wasn’t the most relaxing time though. I spent most of the time in pain or in bed and spent Saturday morning at the University Hospital in Emergency… well it wasn’t really emergency.

Apparently when you are pregnant and you go to emergency – they send you right up to the 4th floor!! The problem didn’t have anything to do with the babies… but they still wanted to check them out – so we got to see another ultra-sound of the little peanuts!

The doctor who saw us had an excellent bedside manner – and we really appreciated the way she took care of us! My ‘problems’ consisted of fallen arches (which caused an extreme amount of pain to develop between my legs when I tried to move – so walking was an issue – as was getting in and out of bed… or even just rolling over.

You really don’t appreciate the muscles that you have until they stop working for you – and start working against you!

A few days of bed rest and some really good support insoles have helped the problem – but I am in the process of getting Orthotics.)

and a body rash (which came about because of an unknown allergy. I have been itching constantly for the past week.. and it had spread from my tummy to my arms, legs, hips and breasts!!! – but a few days on Allergy Med’s and anti-itching cream for pregnant women and things are starting to get better.

I don’t wake up scratching furiously in the middle of the night – and I am starting to recognize what used to be my breasts again… yes pregnant women can talk about their breasts!!!).

ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS!
Okay, so some of you have been asking questions.
And I just need to apologize for not posting the answers sooner.

WHEN IS YOUR DUE DATE?
September 14, 2007

BUT… WHEN DO YOU EXPECT THEM TO BE BORN?
37 weeks is full gestation for twins…
so let me do the math here…August, late August… August 24, 2007

WHAT WERE YOUR THOUGHTS WHEN YOU FOUND OUT THERE WERE TWO INSTEAD OF ONE?
We went for our first ultra-sound here in Regina. Jon was able to come with me and we were both pretty excited. I didn’t realize that you were supposed to come with a full bladder…

so after drinking three glasses of water hurriedly in the waiting room I uncomfortably laid down on the examining table where the nurse then told me that it wasn’t really a big deal..

yeesh.

The room was really nice. The lighting was low and it was nice and quite and private. I didn’t have the greatest view of the screen, but Jon had the best seat in the house.

The nurse squirted gel on my tummy and began to move the wand around looking for the baby.
She did press quite hard – which I wasn’t expecting.. .and it hurt a little… but maybe it’s just because things are so sensitive there these days.

During the ultra-sound you are supposed to save your questions until the nurse is done examining the baby… so for the first 10 minutes or so we just watched the screen.

It was beautiful.

You could see the baby’s profile. You couldn’t make out any detail on the face…
but you could see it’s head, nose, chin, neck, shoulders, arms, tummy, legs and feet.
At 12 weeks not everything is fully developed – but every part of the baby was there!

Then the nurse said –

“Well… it looks like you are getting two for the price of one.”

The first thing I said was “Really?” and I grabbed Jon’s hand.
The first thing Jon said was “Are you sure there aren’t any more?”
He’s so cute.

The nurse then said ‘Oh – yeah I guess we should check hey?”
so she had another look around and nope… just two!!

Although, there are MANY members of my family who think that one is hiding and we will actually be having triplets!

My Grandpa and Brother-In-Law especially!
They think the babies are playing TAG or Hide-n-Seek.
On another side note – I have had a dream that we had triplet boys –
and a friend of mine had the same dream!!

Crazy hey?

You may be surprised at Jon’s reaction..

but you see during the first few months of the pregnancy whenever Jon would say
‘How is my baby doing?”

I would say
“Jon! What if there is more than one? What if there’s two? What if there’s three?”

The nurse showed us the two separate sacks, and two heads and printed off a picture for us – which I have already posted.

She told us which one was BABY A and which one was BABY B
– which Jon has affectionately begun to call them!

Then she focused on each one – and we got to see them up close!

The nurse took BABY A’s heartbeat and measurements. The whole time BABY A was just bouncing around in it’s sack. Jon & I giggled. It’s like there was a dance party going on!

The nurse then did the same for BABY B – who wasn’t as active… but just ‘jumped’ in place… we thought maybe it had the hic-up’s but the nurse said it was too soon.

I wish we would have been able to get a video of it.
Jon & joked about how we were already laughing at them!

So… after all that – How did I feel?

I just felt JOY!

I mean – the idea of having one baby had been giving me feelings of joy and love already –
but the moment we found out it was two – those feelings just got stronger!

I still get a smile on my face when I think about it!
I just keep thinking about how wonderful it’s going to be
– and how Jon & I won’t have to share!!
I know it will be more difficult in the beginning…
but it’s going to be worth it!

WILL YOU COME DOWN HERE (SASKATOON) SO I CAN GIVE YOU A BIG HUG?
Yes!! Actually I will be living with my mom & dad this summer…
so I will definitely be seeing you!!

ARE YOU WANTING TO FIND OUT IF THEY ARE BOYS OR GIRLS?
I told Jon that he could make that decision.
It’s one of the few things he has control over these days!
He has decided that
YES
– we will find out.

DO TWINS RUN IN EITHER OF YOUR FAMILIES?
Yes…
My dad’s brothers are identical twins…
but our twins are fraternal…
so who knows!

HOW ARE YOU FEELING?
Well – like I said earlier – better.
Once I get over my recent aches and pains – things will feel really good.

Well – hopefully I answered your questions!

OTHER RECENT NEWS
My life these days consists of PACKING!!
That’s right! Jon & I are moving at the end of the month.
We don’t know where we are moving to.. except that all of our possessions will be in storage until after Christmas!
Jon’s last class is this Friday!!
His last exam ever is on the 26th!!!!
And then….
Who knows!!
A 12 week practicum and a Board of Certification exam stands in our way to permanent employment in his field.

Because we don’t know where Jon will be going, and the fact that I am not enthusiastic about living somewhere that is not prepared to handle pre-mature twins..
I will be living in Saskatoon with my mom & dad.
Hopefully Jon will join me from time to time.

I hope to see many of you this summer!!
It’s raining babies!!
